Are you in the middle of writing a novel and feeling overwhelmed? Trying to hit those magic 1667 words per day so you can win NaNoWriMo?

If so, I am right there with you. I happily sat at my computer twice a day and wrote for the first nine days. Then the words didn't come so easily and my mind was scattered with all the other things I needed to be doing. Not to mention a book launch happening next week that needed finalising.

Burnout is very common when it comes to writing, especially if you're not used to doing it regularly. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips on how to overcome burnout and continue working on your novel!

One of the best ways to overcome burnout is to take a break. This doesn't mean that you have to stop writing altogether, but it does mean taking some time for yourself. Maybe do some other creative activities that you enjoy, or take a walk outside and get some fresh air. It's important to remember thatburnout is very common, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. Just take a step back and relax for a little bit, then come back to your novel refreshed and ready to continue.

Before a writing session I meditated. I have just finished listening to Write to Riches: 7 Practical Steps to Manifesting Abundance from Your Books by Renee Rose, and downloaded her free meditations. They have really helped me clear my head and remind myself of the big gols I have for my books. I highly recommend Renee Rose' book. I especially love the audiobook.

Another great way to avoid burnout is to plan ahead. If you know how many chapters you want to write, or what the general outline of your story is going to be, it will be much easier to stay on track and not get overwhelmed. It's also helpful to set smaller goals, like writing a certain number of words each day, rather than trying to write the entire novel in one go.

If you are feeling particularly burned out, it might be a good idea to talk to someone else about your novel. This could be a friend or family member who is also interested in writing, or even another author whose work you admire. Talking about your novel with someone else can help you see it from a different perspective and might give you some new ideas on how to overcome your current obstacles.

Ultimately, the best way to avoid burnout is to remember that writing a novel is a marathon, not a sprint. It's important to pace yourself and not try to do too much at once. If you take your time and focus on quality rather than quantity, you'll be much more likely to finish your novel and avoid burnout altogether.

I love knowing how manywords I managed to write. What time of day I seem to write better at and how many more words I can dictate per hour!

These tools have really helped me refresh and prepare to dive back into my novel. I hope they help you too.
